Math is fun! But it is pretty common place for us teachers to reduce math to a collection of skills to learn, practice, and memorize…which is not terribly fun. Math For Love is a wonderful website that provides teachers with the resources for making math the joyous endeavor it is supposed to be.
Games, rich tasks, and engaging lessons (all tagged by grade level) are freely available for students to truly experience what math is supposed to be: inquiry, exploration, experimentation, perseverance, delight, etc.
My personal favorite task is the Billiard Ball Problem…a classic problem.
For grades 4 and up, they have a huge collection of Fraction Talk problems that make an awesome way to start each day.
