I wonder if this mental model persists today; a model in which those deemed a &#8220;Math Person&#8221; must enter some sacred door.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/002-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2147\" src=\"https:\/\/theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/002-1-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"372\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/002-1-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/002-1-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/002-1-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/002-1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 372px) 100vw, 372px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">But if EVERYONE is a math person, then there is going to be a lot of pushing and shoving as folks desperately fight to get through the narrowly defined doorway of mathematical success.\u00a0Invariably not everyone will actually get through that doorway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2148\" src=\"https:\/\/theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.theothermath.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/003-1-125x125.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">But what if we redefined that doorway to make it much wider? To allow many more people to pass through? Let&#8217;s expand &#8220;doing math&#8221; as much more than just arriving at the correct answer. Even those out-of-the-box thinkers.
